Anxiety, Brain Fog & Period Migraines And Antibiotic Linked Dysbiosis

When Rishika joined PURO, she was dealing with symptoms that seemed completely disconnected.

There were digestive issues, bloating, puffiness, muscle discomfort and period-induced migraines. Because each issue felt separate, she had tried solving them separately — seeing a physiotherapist for muscle concerns, trying nutrition changes for bloating, and being told that her period migraines were something she may simply have to live with.

But Rishika also had an important clinical history: she had previously been treated for pulmonary tuberculosis and had gone through a significant antibiotic phase. She felt her gut had never fully recovered after that.

Even though she was doing many things right — exercising, sleeping on time, eating mostly home-cooked meals and staying disciplined — she still felt puffy, uncomfortable and mentally unsettled.

After experiencing improvement through the two-week reset, she joined the 3-month PURO programme for a deeper intervention.

The turning point came when her gut mapping and first consultation helped her understand that her symptoms were not random. The digestive issues, migraines, anxiety, puffiness and mental fog were part of a larger gut-brain-hormone pattern.

The first few weeks were not easy. She had recently moved to Singapore, was living alone, and initially found the food difficult to adapt to. But as the programme progressed, the plan became more practical, with adjustments such as more filling snack options and clearer guidance based on her body’s response.

Within the programme, she began noticing major shifts.

Her period migraines reduced dramatically. Her sleep improved. She was able to fall asleep, stay asleep, wake up without an alarm and feel like her brain had actually rested.

The biggest impact, however, was on her mental health. She felt calmer, clearer and more stable. The anxiety she had assumed she would have to live with no longer felt like the rest of her life.

Physically, she also felt less bloated and less puffy. People around her commented that she looked like she had lost a lot of weight, even though the actual scale change was only around 3 kg. She described it as feeling like she had “deflated.”

For Rishika, the most meaningful outcome was the combination of calmer mental health and more stable energy. Once her body felt more regulated, she felt more capable of taking better decisions for her overall health.

Her case shows how gut imbalance can present far beyond digestion — as anxiety, brain fog, poor sleep, hormonal migraines, puffiness and loss of internal stability. PURO helped her move from treating each symptom separately to understanding and addressing the deeper interconnected pattern.
